Back for it’s sixth year, multi-venue musical experience Simple Things takes over Bristol on Saturday 22 October. It brings a unique, wide-reaching line-up to all four corners of the city, from the grandeur of Colston Hall to the industrial grittiness of The Bierkeller, the cosiness of The Small Horse to the late night hubs of Lakota and Coroners Court.
Its distinctive array of live acts and DJs reigns unparalleled in this burgeoning wintry period. It’s where the likes of Warpaint, Steve Mason and Death Grips meet Nina Kraviz, Ben UFO and ABRA, where pioneering grime MC Kano meets Squarepusher’s Shobaleader One. Bad Breeding, Powell and Idles will be keeping the noise levels raucously loud, whilst Helena Hauff, Karen Gwyer, dBridge, Boris and Lena Willikens hold it down on the late-night club program.
This year will also host a number of free panel discussions across the weekend. In association with Watershed, topics will examine: the homogenisation of UK festivals, the groups reclaiming club culture’s progressive roots, how musical activity can support itself financially in a digital era, and more.
