The ever rising Adio Marchant has been making big movements of late, with his solo project Bipolar Sunshine really starting to find its feet. Having initially opted for quality over quantity, with the recent release of his “Drowning Butterflies EP” he is beginning to perfect his own sound on a much larger scale. Also releasing his music under his own label its clear he has a very precise vision for where he wants things to go, and he is most certainly on the right path. Shuf recently caught up with Adio to talk about his sound, the new EP, dream collaborations and why his mum is awesome.

At what age did you start making music?

About eight or nine I used to write crazy ass love songs. Wish i could see them now the lyrics would be haunting.

Where did the name Bipolar Sunshine come from?

I don’t know, I like the way to words sit together.

You gained a lot of praise for your 'Long.Live.A$AP' cover. Is mixing genres something you're interested in?

Most definitely, I do it as its the only way I know how to make music. I love experimenting as long as your sentiment is the same you can do what you want.

What are some of your favourite releases of the year so far?

Lorde, Drake, A$AP FERG, Pusha T, King Krule, Arctic Monkeys and of course Kan fucking Ye.

What was your inspiration for the new single 'Love More Worry Less'?

The title itself- just trying to find ways to keep my head up.

As you are from Manchester, what are thoughts towards Warehouse Project?

Don't go if you are not of your head because it smells funny sober.

Who are some of your biggest musical influences?

My mum as she introduced me to the Carpenters, Prince, Pharrel, Adele, Kanye, Bob Marley, Jacko, Chris Martin, The Smiths.

What’s the biggest highlight of your career so far?

Playing Leeds and Reading festival.

What provoked you to start releasing music under your own label?

I wanted some sort of control and to eventually help other artists.

What are you listening to right now?

Arctic Monkeys - One For the Road.

Are there any artists you would like to collaborate with?

So many! Chris Martin, Kanye, Morrissey and James Blake.

For those who haven’t heard your music how would you describe it?

A beautiful slow train crash but on the moment of impact it starts over again ...

Outside of music do you have any other goals you would like to reach?

My label being a platform for others to use and to look after my family. Simple stuff really.

What can expect from the new EP, 'Drowning Butterflies'?

New sounds, new direction of music but the same sentiment.

Is there anything else you’d like to let us know?

Jordan should not be allowed to get married again.

Drowning Butterflies EP is available now.
