Snail Mail’s debut album Lush was undoubtedly one of the most honest and resonating releases of 2018. The Baltimore-native Lindsey Jordan, at a humbling 19 years old, not only demonstrated her artistic lyricism, but also captivated listeners with her bedroom indie rock vibes and “endless summer night” narrative.
Track by track, Lush takes you on a dreamy journey into Jordan’s mind. The sensually melodic yet spiritually heavy songs provide moments of both self-reflection and self-discovery. The remnants of a significant other is a recurring theme on the album. This is seen on lead single Pristine in which Lindsey provides peace of mind when living with a relationship which doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. Lindsey’s voice throughout this narrative is memorable. Her passionately honest vocals, depicting emotional distress blended with bitter sweet truths, are what defines this iconic album.
